Another chance to see… Fothergill’s Buildings in Mansfield on Zoom

I’m going to re-run my online talk on Watson Fothergill’s buildings in his birthplace Mansfield, Nottinghamshire.

Tickets here

Fothergill’s Buildings in Mansfield is an illustrated online talk, via Zoom. It will take place on Tuesday 22 November 2022 at 7 pm – ticket holders can watch live or have access to a recording will be available for one month after the broadcast date.

Flamboyant Victorian Architect Fothergill Watson was born in 1841 in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire. Some of his earliest buildings were in the town. In this illustrated online talk Tour Guide and Art Historian, Lucy Brouwer will look at their history.

Before he moved to Nottingham, Fothergill Watson (who changed his name in 1892 to Watson Fothergill) had many connections in Mansfield and here he built houses, shops and the town’s Cattle Market.

In this “Virtual Tour”, Lucy – the creator of the popular Nottingham guided tour, Watson Fothergill Walk – will look at the surviving buildings and those that were demolished.

Tickets are £5 each (Plus Eventbrite fee).

If you’d like to organise a Zoom talk for your group, please send a message via the form on this page.

Talk for Bromley House Library

Over the last few years it has been my great pleasure to become a member of Nottingham’s hidden gem, Bromley House Library. Currently, the Library has been forced to close due to the “current situation” so their programme of local history talks has been moved online.

My next outing for the Watson Fothergill Walk will be a virtual one, entitled Watson Fothergill: Nottingham’s Most Flamboyant Architect. It is open to Bromley House Library members only and takes place on 20 January 2021, 2pm.

However, if you are interested in organising a talk for your group then please get in touch with me and we can set up a “virtual tour”.

Watson Fothergill Walk… from the comfort of your own home!

This year I haven’t been able to take as many people as I would have liked out on the Watson Fothergill Walk… but I have been able to take more photos of some of Nottingham’s most interesting Victorian buildings.

So I’m delighted to present an online version of the tour – The Watson Fothergill Virtual Walk! I’ve picked my favourite buildings to put together a live online version and I hope you will be able to join me zia Zoom.

The first of these will be on Thursday 3 December at 7pm and tickets are £5 (plus a small booking fee). I hope to add more dates so get in touch and let me know if you’d like to take part.

When it becomes possible to lead tour groups again (in 2021) I will be planning lots more walk dates.
